Only Just seen your post. I had seen this picture. It seems that there were differences between boats coming from the same yard. Agresssor and Biter were both from Saro but I notice that the mast is completely different from Biter? For some reason I decided to model it on the port side. I also had to drop the floor of the cockpit to get scale figures to stand up. This would have been a lot easier if I'd realised it was too shallow before I'd built it!!!! Due to various reasons mainly health related I have been very slow in finishing mine but it should not be too long before she is ready for the water. I will post some pics when she's finished. My only problem at the moment is I have no idea what flags/pennants to fly. I presume she would have flown a white ensign from either the mast or from a post at the stern? I notice from pictures of her at speed that she is flying several flags from the mast head , one of which is a X on a dark background, but I have no idea of colours? I really would like to get these right on my model as flags like crew make for realism?( I currently have 2 Vietnam Vets crewing mine as have run out of funds to purchase RN crew)

Did you sharpen up the blunt bow? I think the blunt bow spoils what would otherwise be a fine hull.

Hi Christian
Strangely enough I had not noticed that though now you mention it I can see what you mean. I have inadvertently added a slightly more pointed profile to the deck and rubbing strip around it that when veiwed from many angles gives the impression of a sharper bow. The modifications that I have made are the inclusion of the infamous exhausts ( They are just dummies and the exact position has been guestimated from pictures), the door to the bridge, the models steps run up to a blank wall!, and I am currently producing the cover/rain guard for the front hatch from copper wire and an old hankie. I have also painted it with an all black hull as when I did the half grey scheme it did not look right. I have used white pennant numbers on the hull but I believe that they should infact be white with a red border but that can be changed later. My only real task now, apart from sailing it, is to find out what flags and pennants would have been flown. All in all I think its a great model. The quality of all the resin and metal mouldings are well up to par. In fact better than most. It is simple enough to build without any extras, but also lends itself to a whole host of add ons to make it more realistic. I am still considering a klaxon on the front of the cockpit along with the air vents and grills on the side. Problem is where to stop???? From what I can gather on water performance should be quite good with the suggested running gear. Jeremy |
