I'd be interested to hear if anyone knows the whereabouts or fate of what was advertised for sale simply as an "ex-RAF air-sea rescue boat" that was moored on the Cam, in Cambridge, in 1995.
She had been converted into a liveaboard some years prior, and sported a white hull (said to be teak...) and a white superstructure, possibly in GRP, which looked like it may have been styled in an attempt to pass her off as a modern yacht. If I recall correctly, the details described her as "40 feet" in length, though I'm less sure about that (and it seems likely to have been an approximation anyway). There were twin Perkins diesels. Condition by then was a bit scruffy, but serviceable. I rented a tiny flat nearby and harboured ambitions of buying her instead, but alas couldn't raise the funds despite the comparatively modest asking price. |

Addendum - having done some more reading, including the HSL articles by John Pritchard that are reproduced on forum member dgray's website, I'm starting to convince myself that she was (is?) a BPB ST of the 1941 type, based on the length, engines, and my recollection of the hull design.
