Class100 HSL 121 Help needed

Hello everyone.

I have joined this forum to try and find as
much information as people can give me regarding the Class 100 High
Speed Launch No. 121.

My Father (Frank) worked aboard this
vessel during WWII stationed out of North Africa. He only has a couple
of pictures of the launch and fond memories of it.

Do any of you have any pictures or information about this HSL 121 that you could share we me / Dad.
Do any of you know if it was scrapped or is it still out there somewhere ?

I notice that Christian has made a superb model of it - Was this a kit  or scratch built ?

	Hi Nigel Thanks! The model is at 72nd scale, and is a very heavily modified Airfix Whaleback kit (apart from providing all the fittings, this kit also provides the decals which are so important to get any model looking right). It is actually a little too beamy. There is a kit available for this class of HSL, from Deans Marine, at 24th scale. It is OK, the hull is a little over-size, the bows a little too raked and the entry a little too fine. All of this can be fixed. These kits are made to be electric powered, they perform very well. I think they go for around £150. Airfix conversion. Deans Marine kit. Edited by Christian

	Those models are great. One thing my father did say was that he remembers the roundels as being much larger. He also said that originally the 121 had a copper plated bottom to it, but this was damaged en-route to Alexandria and they had to strip this off in a makeshift dry dock and plug the bolt holes etc. when they got there. I think if I was going to try to recreate one myself, the airfix kit is a bit more to my modelling abilities (and price !) - Milliput is my friend ! haha.
