I am sure that Clive will not mind me just letting all of you know, 32 is now safely off the trailer with no more damage being done to her, in fact the trailer journey had no detrimental effects on the boat that we can see, also 4 strops are better than two, more so with a travel hoist. Hull will be made water tight for the short journey to the slipway.

Hi there,
Great to hear she made it to Lowestoft, hope she is soon on the slip and under repair, then of course out and about.

Cheers Andy, The extra wood will be staying put for the forseeable future, most of the time money and effort will be going into the hull sides, the damage from the lift looks quite extensive on the stbd side, the internal chine is damaged. on the port side it does not look so bad but probably is. '32 arrived in Lowestoft this afternoon, that is another leg of the journey over, I have to thank everyone who has given up their time to help with and record the journey '32 has taken over the past weeks, all of the situations she has been in, some not ideal, have been 'moments in time' which if not photographed would have been lost. |

Clive, The additional section added either side of the keel is normally to consolidate the lower and of the hull planks and their fixings onto the keel, as well as providing some protection or a form of repair to the keel. Note that there is no Garboard plank in the classic sense as the daigonal planks attach directly to the keel. They may have a covering stemplate when built but were often fitted with extra protection during service. Also in the forefoot there is normally a stepped scarfe connection between the keel and the forefoot or stem sections. These can be prone to weakening especially if fresh water has been running down into them and also if it is laminated the the glue lam joints can fail in this area and back in the slamming zone. One option to help cause these are to externally reinforce the keel. Of course thare may be other reasons for fitting them so this is not known until it has been checked out, but the original design had a smooth keel to planking transition without any steps or open edges. Best regards AndyS |

I must add my own best wishes to Clive and his team - these are very special moments in the history of ex-S32 and I am pleased that those moments have been recorded here - like Pathfinder - I relish the thought of reading more on this very brave saga, there will surely be further exciting times ahead. Well done Clive

Thank you Pioneer for putting the pics up for me. All the awning frame work has been removed and is lashed on deck fore and aft of the cabin. The mast is in 2 pieces so that it fitted into the cabin. All the fenders as well as the anchor were lowered through the forward hatch. Anything loose on deck which could have fallen off during transit has been stowed under deck, so she is now ready to roll. Clive tells me she will be patched up and lifted from the trailer in to the water for floating a short distance to the yard slipway cradle, and then into the sheds. She is truly a lovely lady, and when I remember the state of the Trusts HSL142, and what we had to do to her at the end, it is for me personally a huge privilege to have been able to assist Clive in a small way with recovering 32. All the best Clive, and look forward to some exciting times ahead, for You and 32. |
