It has taken a year, but she's finally finished...nearly! 1/24th scale, r/c. GRP hull, ply deck and superstructure, white metal, resin and brass fittings. 4 electric motors, sound effects. If anyone wanted to see a picture or two, I could post some...if anyone can tell me how to!!! Not really up on this forum thing! Mike

Hello Mike Sure, we'd all like to see the model. Scan the picture and save it as a web ready image. Check that it is less than 50KB. Then after signing in here - open Post Reply - click on the above icon that has a little tree with the arrow pointing upwards.- this can take you to your Picture Browser (on your computer) select the image - and hopefully it should appear in the Post Reply box. Regards Ted |

Pioneer Thanks for the kind comments. Yes, spent ages surfing the 'net and hunting down pictures and so on (which is how I first came across BMPT). Also have books by John Lambert/Al Ross and Len Reynolds. I spent a couple of weeks trying to see if I could get any film clips and images from IWM, but never got a reply to any emails, which was unfortunate. It was a fascinating subject to model and the real thing must have been very impressive indeed. Mike |

Re film clips of these and others underway,I wonder if anyone has come across a good source. That I know of; Fairmile D-History channel documentary re Mulberry harbour, about 5 sec only. Fairmile B-History channel documentary re Operation Chariot(St Nazaire) excellent clear close up and lengthy footage of the MLs at speed and turning at speed(and heeling INTO the turns despite displacement hulls). Gay Class-The ship That Died Of Shame.Superb footage. Hants And Dorset HSLs-The Sea Shall Not Have Them.Superb also. Elco 80ft and Higgins PT Boats-History Ch.Mosquito Fleet.Unmissable. For Those In Peril-Whalebacks and Fairmile RMLs. Edited by Christian |
