Hi,
Long time since I have visited the forum and I would just like to update. From Southampton I am very keen on the history of the British Power Boat Company. Of course Hubert Scott-Paine was instrumental in getting the Admiralty to accept the concept of the MTB. They rejected his prototype and he went to the USA where it is now accepted that his design was the forerunner of the US Patrol Torpedo PT boat. I have put together a YouTUBE Channel called; If you take a look you will see a number of videos covering development of the power boat as well as the workforce at the boatyard. Please note I was given access to the George Biddlecome Estate who allowed me to copy numerous pre war photos of the boatyard. they would be delighted if others wished to use them. I wanted also to get more info on the Thornycroft yard at Woolston not Northam and pics of the Vospers Portchester works for later projects but I can see I am on the right forum. Whilst covering D Day on my YouTube Channel Southampton on D-DAY on another forum I found members rude which I have never found here. I am a History/Geography teacher trying to accurately record events and put them into the public domain. I welcome comments and if you see something I have got wrong please let me know! Many thanks, Kingsley Miller Kip PS Lets hope the links work PPS You can also find me on facebook |
