Hello forum, I was always told my father the late Dennis John (Rick) Richardson was captain of an MTB in the British Navy during WWII. I have no other knowledge of his Naval past, other than the boat was accidentally? destroyed in manouvers, where crew were killed and he sustained horrific injuries. I would like to find out more about the incident and indeed the boat, and thought this forum would be a good place to start. Any help would would gratefully appreciated.

If your Dad was in command of an MTB,MGB or larger ML he would have been probably a Lieutenant and most probably in the Royal Naval Volunteer Reserve (RNVR). Given this, it should be possible to trace his service record, especially if you have an idea of dates of service and any reference to his service number etc. I am no expert but have done this successfully for various lower deck RN relatives.
