I completed this model with the help of many emails to Clive Frampton earlier in the spring of 2007. I enjoyed researching and building this early version of the RAF Whaleback.

	Looks super, thanks for sharing the photos. I see you opened up the mouldings for the gun depression rails, it makes such a big difference. I think the Airfix CF kits are really very good, especially the Whaleback.

	Friday, November 6, 2009 It has been nearly 3 years since this model was finished. Clive Hampton was a big help in the accuracy of the model I only wish others when they post this type of vessel had the research complete too. Clive said the rear deck was not strong enough to support the anti-aircraft guns that come with this kit, yet many people install them anyway. It always pays off to research your work. 	I have spent the last couple of days trying to work out RBcdn means .I think he is referring to the early version of 127 that he has modeled. If I remember correctly the aft decks were strengthened in 42 to take the 20mm. Interesting picture Christian is that a canvas dodger on the limiting frame at the 20mm like on the fairmile c boats ? never seen that before

	RBcdn here...Where did you find this photo Christian? It obviously shows th 20mm on the aft deck but according to Meyer the rear deck was strengthened in 1942. Well, my research reference was through photographs and discussions with Clive Hampton via emails. What year was this photo from? It appears in the photo to have flak jackets which to my knowledge did not appear on the earlier versions of this vessel. By the way RB is Ron Bauer.

	Hi Ron You have I think modelled her early war (pre 42) judging from the hi viz deck and cabin Christians picture is of 127 presumably after 42 when some type twos had their armament increased by twin Lewis machine guns positioned on free standing mountings each side of the wheelhouse. Some of the 63ft HSL's carried a 20mm Oerlikon cannon on a specially strengthened rear deck. Anti-shrapnel padding covered the top sides of the wheelhouse, chart room and sick bay, as well as the radio room. Armour plating was installed behind the coxswain's position and behind the engineer's seat in the engine room.
