Hi all,

I've had an email from a gent who thinks he's sighted Western Lady II (missing for many a long year) in Rye, East Sussex. He says the name (i.e. the II) was confirmed by his wife and 2 other people but from his description I suspect it is actually Western Lady IV.

Just wondering if anyone based in that corner of the world fancies a look just to confirm?

It's a bit too far for me for a day trip and work just doesn't take me in that direction.

Regards,
Steve Powell.

In fact we can draw a line under this.

The gent who wrote to me went back for another look and confirms it is Western Lady IV.

Steve.

Has Tony still got the old girl? Nice to see she's still in good order. Any news on wl3?
A boat is a hole in the water surrounded by wood, into which one throws money

Hello Jimmy,

Long time no 'speak'.

I gather Tony has sold WLIV - there is mention of an ebay auction somewhere in this forum (around May I think) but it totally slipped under my radar at the time.

WLIII is still with Greenway Ferry as 'The Fairmile'.

I took a trip on her a few weeks ago and was equally impressed with John's knowledge, skippering skills and obvious caring attitude towards her.

He is very proud indeed to be her custodian and I came away happy that she is in very safe hands this time.

Regards,
Steve.

Tony had to sell her due to ill health.

She actually paid a visit to Brixham enroute to Rye when she was sold earlier in the year.

I missed seeing her by a few days but someone did send me a photo taken from Battery Gardens of her moored to what I think was her old bouy in the outer harbour, being 'buzzed' by WLIII.
Sisters briefly together again.

Hi there,

Lovely shot of her at Rye there, yes heard she was for sale, hope that went OK and she can be kept up following such a great renovation, on my to do list to get aboard The Fairmile at some stage, saw in latest Ships Monthly one under restoration caught fire, not a total loss, Jamaica Moon, but not good. Many thanks,

Johnk

Do you know where Jamaica Moon is now? Take it she's no longer berthed at St Osyth?
