I am a nautical archeaologist who has an interest in a wreck found in the River Tay, Scotland. It is alleged to be a WW2 ex US Torpedo Recovery Vessel that serviced the River Clyde during the war colecting practice torpedoes.  I would like to identify this vessel which is now just a hull and perhaps investigate its war history. The big problem is trying to ascertain whether it was an MTB, MGB, Patrol Boat, or some other auxiliary vessel. I don't know whether it was built in the US or the UK but the last owner has stated it was built circa 1940's. Its length is 64'3" and beam 18'9". It had a shallow draft and from chine to deck is about 13'.  I have a few photos to help recognition. I personally am pretty stumped and would welcome any suggestions. I would be welcome to share these photos. Please contact me by email to obtain photos.

Thanks for your attentiopn and hopefully contructive assistance.

Hi Bob,

If you have higher resolution photos, I can upload them for you so the detail may be clearer.  If you want me to, please email to don@rania.co.uk and I'll be happy to.

I thought she might be a GP Pinnace but the beam is very wide. I'm sure somebody will know.

Regards

Don

Is it the black pearl?
