Hi all,

I visited Bembridge on Friday and went past MTB 24. I'm afraid to say that I think her days may be numbered. The hull is sagging at the stern and looks broken. A window has been removed to allow water in as the tide rises to prevent her floating away. The neighbouring boat owner suspects that she'll probably be broken up next year.

There's a short bio on my website here:  https://spitfiresofthesea.com/mtb-24" rel="nofollow - https://spitfiresofthesea.com/mtb-24

Here's a few more images too:

In happier news, two boats down is the former MGB 320, which is for sale if anyone's interested?

Hello Steve,

Many thanks for this post, a very sad sight for sure, agree that really, once such deterioration has set in, sunk etc...what a pity, but perhaps, I know not myself, but possibly, with permission, something could be salvaged for other vessels, so part could "live on".....as I say, don't know myself and not able to verify..seems a "trend" we see ex Freelance now pretty much gone..all the best,

Johnk

Hi John,
I hope to be able to get in touch with the owner, and am working with a colleague with the hope of getting some students to survey her before she goes. I'll update here as and when I know more.
Steve
