Hi, I need some advice please.

I've been offered a pair of Rolls Royce 6 Cylinder Marine naturally aspirated  diesel engines  ( about 160hp I'm told).   They are the C6 series 654K SF range Model 1041-4-5-6

Does anybody know anything about these engines, their dimensions,  and what gearboxes they would marry up to.  I'm thinking of using them in place of perkins S6-M's  but have no idea of the RR dimensions/weight.

Thanks

Don

Hi Don

I think these are the engines used in 63ft Pinnaces and 43ft RSLs, one of the men to talk to is the owner of Amiens although I have no idea how to get in touch with him, the boat is on the nhsc website.

Many thanks Christian. I'll try to contact Mike Johnston who is her current owner.  I think I've got his email address here somewhere.

Do you know where ST 1510 is?

Cheers

Thanks Goys,

Mike reply below rules out the RR engines for reasons of weight and size. Shame as they were in remarkable condition (apparently).
I've got some current pictures of Amiens from Mike. Looks like a wonderful job he's doing on her.

Don

"In reply to your big question about RR engines I have got all the info that you need because I have the Operators Handbook, the Workshop manual and even the Parts Manual, If they are C6's they are quite big lumps at 2.03 litre per cylinder they produce aprox 230 hp and they weigh 2,500LB or 1,134KG to the metricated among us the dimensions depend A bit on what ancillaries are fitted nd the length on what gear box you have you will need 30ins between the engine beds about 34ins centres,
Around 70ins long without gear box, As regards gearboxes they should take, M.R.F.10 3B,  16B (as mine), 16/1B, 21/B all made by Self-Changing Gears ltd Coventry, or Thornicroft type 'B' ,Capitol HYC.10800,  HYC.EC-6900, HYC.10100, HYC.EC-7700, HYC.10300, or Mathway RRD3.And probably many other newer boxes with an adaptor plate to the bell housing, Approximate dry weight of engine and gearing 3,010 lb or 1,365 kg."
