I am new here and i need to find out if the "domes" on the gun turrets are available in 1/24 scale as used on HSLs, i have looked at Deans web site and they don,t seem to have them available for scratch builders. Also i am interested in HSLs built by Herbert Woods and would like to obtain drawings in 1/24 scale. At present i have 9 RAF boats built from John Pritchards drawings, I suspect this is a recurring request about the gun turrets.

John, I asked a modeller friend what he did for turrets and he said he made his own from aryclic sheet, heated in an oven and then moulded to shape with a male and female die made from turned and polished wood.  Not much help I suppose if you just want to buy some.

YABBIE, thank you for the info, it,s also in another posting, i will have to make the former by hand unless i can find something suitable. If i remember correctly the "domes" on the whaleback sort of spread out and are a larger diameter than the cylindrical lower part of turret, i must look at photos, no problem as i have plenty in books. I usually make everything myself. The next time i go to a city i will call in the model shop. Minus 4c to-day with snow although it was nice yesterday and i rigged my new Lateen sail for my kayak, went into the"bush" last weekend, saw moose and bears.

A boat is a hole in the water surrounded by wood, into which one throws money
