Hello all, I was recently on holiday in Cornwall and was going to the Scilly isles for the day. In Penzance Whilst walking to the ferry from the car park we crossed over the bridge and sat in the water was what looked to be an ex MTB???? of some description stripped down to just a bare deck and a wheelhouse and she is for sale. I took some photos but later accidently deleted all my photos from my phone so don't have any to show you. I wondered if anyone as also seen her and can fill me in on what she is. Thank You and regards.

Thanks for the reply Johnk. I had a thought maybe if I went on google maps she may be on there and she is. I got it up on the screen and took some photos but the images are too big and wont upload to this site. At present she has had the what can only be described as a shanty town shed removed from over the wheelhouse. As I say I may be way off beam as to what she is but hoping someone can shed some light. I will look for another way to post some pics. if anyone wants me to email the pics to them if you may know another way to upload them I will certainly do that, cheers all John.

I managed to find this photo on the net. This Boat is called the Vega I believe and under the bow can be seen the boat I am on about. She is bow on and perpendicular to The Vega moored against the Harbour wall.

Also remembered that she has a flat deck which slightly curves off at each side.

Hi there,
No problem, ah a Nasty...could be....saw you saying wanting a trip on a WW2 boat there, well, there are some about, if you see links page on this site, you have MTB 102, HDML Medusa, and the ex Watchet Warships, now based in Torquay harbour, all a bit of a trek I know from Sheffield, sorry none come to mind closer..albeit at ex RAF Hooten Park, there is HSL..blast the number escapes me now, but is listed I think, but is under restoration as you might see...

Hi John, Thanks again for the Info I will certainly look these up and hopefully when I am next down that way I'll make a B line and see if I can get a trip out on one. Think I may make it a mission to get round them all in time. I was first struck by the shear size and majesty of some of these boats when I was at Duxford and saw MTB71. Though I think the best looking are probably the German S boats, bow on at speed now there is a sight. regards John.

Hi there,
Yes, 71 is due back at Portsmouth for display there sometime, yes the S boats, still S130 in Cornwall in a shed, owned by Kevin Wheatcroft, was under restoration but nothing heard of late...indeed, many to see and visit for sure, one day...

She was one of the four that sat in Girvan Harbour for years...another is sitting sunk at the old NATO pier in Campbelltown.
