Hi Don Yes, she is a BPB, as is Swift but they have very different upperworks, Swift being almost totally original. I think it's a different boat. Vosper and Thornycroft did build STs too, but not many (Vosper only 2 I think). You can tell a BPB by the hull shape fwd and rudders if they're original;
Quite unique! |

Has anyone managed to go and look her over yet , the auction has ended with no bidders and I've asked the seller for some extra time but unless someone is close enough to look her over it looks like she's going to be firewood soon

I spoke to Kev and asked him a few questions about her. He didn't know much. Another sale in lieu of fees. He said that he'd find out about lift costs and when she would have to be moved etc. She's a big project but looks worth it.
Well worth a visit. He said he'd call me this week with more info. I'll post it when he does. |

I'm not interested in owning her...Are you?
Re West Mersea, not a dickie from anyone (other than yourself) with any offer of help including the relevant associations. Mind you they are getting a lot older so I don't blame them one little bit. Duxford/Imperial War Museum assured me that they wouldn't be having any more boats aft Duxford. Too much to do on my own I fear. A real shame but apathy rules. Regards Don |

I know all about the 'Apathy Rules' situation , it's a shame though
This one at least is in better nick . If someone was closer and could take a proper look I might be able to save her from the chainsaw , but still waiting to hear from the owner |

She IS the Swift, ex ST 445.The above pictures are from Ron Young's collection, the top photo from 20 years ago at Burlesdon and the lower two from 10 years ago at Bristol Docks. How sad she is in such a state now. Regards,Christian. |

Thanks Christian,
Well I still feel like a heel re '32. Sale fell through on my Benetti again so I'm still stuck. Maybe a Derby class would be the best thing for me as they aren't so big. Blue Peter type. Humorist is on at £35k but that is a bit rich for me. Cheers Don |
